Action points are earned when a regent increases their influence in their state over a period of one year. One action point is awarded in the Summer quarter if the level of influence was higher in Spring than it was in the preceding Spring. Action points can be 'spent' on a range of different options. To access the special actions menu, a regent simply has to select the 'Regent' tab from the state menu.

Available actions are as follows:

Block reform Next alliance reform won't apply.	2 APs
Alliance joining AP are subtracted as soon as the state successfully joined. First joining doesn't involve AP costs.	3 APs
Address an audience A speech about country's condition shall enlighten and encourage the citizens.	2 APs
Declare war War is declared on another nation.	2 APs
Contract a trade agreement Extensive economical cooperation is appointed with another nation.	2 APs
Regimen Increases the regent's health.	3 APs
State visit Increases the international reputation.	2 APs
Reform propaganda Reforms are advertised so population is more likely to accept them.	2 APs
Declare total war Population is prepared for a long and cruel war.	4 APs
Recruitment Increases the strength of the army.	4 APs
